ASA calls for submissions to amend Code of Advertising Practice
The Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (ASA) is once again calling on all interested parties to submit suggestions for changes or additions necessary to update the Code of Advertising Practice.
The Code updating process takes place annually, in order to reflect societal changes in South Africa as well as evolving advertising practices worldwide.
Submissions are invited from the public as well as consumer organisations and members of the advertising and marketing industry. Proposals should be well motivated and must reach the ASA by no later than 30 March 2012.
While the ASA coordinates the code revision process, input from the public as well as the marketing communications industry will shape the rules that the ASA will apply.
A task team will consider all proposals for change and will make recommendations which will finally be approved at the ASA's Annual General Meeting.
