Objects, vision and mission

OBJECTS, VISION AND MISSION

The objects of the Company are to:

(a) adopt and enforce, as far as reasonably possible, a code of advertising in the Republic which sets out the rules which advertising persons agree to follow, which indicates to the consumer and the public the steps that are taken to ensure, through self-imposed regulation, that advertisements can be trusted, and provides a system of recourse for those who may have been harmed or prejudiced by an advertisement;

(b) adopt and enforce, as far as reasonably possible, a code of sponsorship in the Republic which sets out the rules which persons involved in any aspect of sponsorship will follow, which indicates that steps are taken to provide, through self-imposed regulation, a system of recourse for persons involved in any aspect of sponsorship who may have been harmed or prejudiced by any action of any fellow sponsor or third party;

(c) persuade all persons, corporations or organisations, or anybody to which they may be affiliated, and which are concerned with:

(i) the preparation, printing, broadcasting or dissemination of advertising;

(ii) sponsorship;

(iii) the marketing of goods, whether corporeal or incorporeal;

(iv) the protection of consumer or industry; and

(v) to become Members of the Company.

THE ASA’S VISION IS

To determine whether advertising contravenes or offends against its Code of Standards.

THE ASA’S MISSION IS

To consult with and advise appropriate government, statutory, provincial, civic and other

authorities, and to do anything else which will help to achieve the above objects.
